"Kuselan" is about how a man should not forget his roots in the face of stardom. The movie revolves around the lives of two supposed good friends, a superstar, Ashok Raj (Rajnikanth) and a common barber Balan, (Pasupathy). The superstar has always been busy with his life as a celebrity so he doesn't have time for his best friend. As they face challenges in the course of their complex relationship, the best friends struggle to understand and appreciate each other.
